You can sponsor at-risk children for just $15 a month. This small amount of support goes a long way in Nepal and helps pay for a child’s shelter and education. A portion is also used to fund human trafficking awareness programs and training for parents in Nepal’s remote villages. Child trafficking seems like breaking news to the world but we have been fighting this war against children for nearly 10 years.
Nepal is poor. Workers earn barely $1.00 a day. Traffickers tell naive parents a story they want to believe; that for a fee their girl will get training and a good job in India. The sad truth is that these children are sold into prostitution. Many, as young as 8 years old, become captive sex slaves. Often they become diseased and are then discarded to die and are never seen again.
Children Rescue Mission provides education and family support. When children are less of a burden the temptation to sell a child decreases. Children with no parents are placed in ‘next of kin’ homes.
